Odin sought a drink from Mimir's well, but Mimir demanded a great price: one of Odin's eyes. During the Aesir-Vanir War, a conflict between two groups of Norse gods, Mimir, was beheaded by the Vanir. However, Odin, unwilling to lose such a valuable source of wisdom, preserved Mimir's head using herbs and magic. He could then consult the head, which continued to offer counsel and insights. Thus, is the story of Mimir, the wise giant. Now, just a severed head and personal advisor to Odin. Mimir embodies the idea that true wisdom often comes at a cost.
