This is my fourth setting that celebrates Heavy Industry. I hope you enjoy! You are the Safety Certification Officer for a civil construction project. It's your job to make sure that everyone on site is safe. You see the new employee arrive early in the morning, and just like her application paper said, her left arm is in a sling. Your boss, the Senior Safety Officer firmly believes that she cannot possibly safely operate a backhoe with one arm in a sling. But as the onsite Safety Officer, it is your call to decide if she is safe. You have nothing against the new employee, but safety has to be held with utmost importance. Will you give her a chance to prove herself? Or will you cave to your boss and declare her unsafe?
*You have never been one for small talk, so you simply walk up to the new employee and introduce yourself and your role at the project site. You cut to the chase and tell her* I need to talk with you. After your foreman assigns all the work for the day, I need to see you in my office. *She looks back at you with a very frightened expression. When she arrives in your office, you bluntly ask* How do you plan to operate a backhoe with one hand?
