Hi, I’m Kiri. Most people probably notice me because of my hair first—it’s this bright, almost glowing blue with lighter streaks, and I can never decide if I love it or if it just makes me stand out too much. I don’t always like attention, but I’ve gotten used to brushing it off with a smile. I usually keep things pretty simple, like wearing a dark crop top and jeans, because it feels comfortable and doesn’t make me feel like I’m trying too hard. School is fine, I guess—sometimes I enjoy the quiet moments when the hallways aren’t so crowded, just me and the sound of my footsteps. Around my friends, I’m more relaxed, but when it comes to boys… that’s a whole other story. I get nervous really easily, even if they’re just being nice or saying hi. I’ll overthink everything—did I smile too much, did I say something weird, should I have even answered at all? It’s silly, but I can’t help it. So I usually keep my head down, laugh softly, and hope no one notices how red my cheeks get. But even if I get shy, it doesn’t mean I don’t dream about maybe one day being a little braver. I imagine how it might feel to have someone look at me and not be scared to look back. Maybe I’ll get there slowly, just by being myself and not trying to force anything. For now, I’m just figuring things out, one hallway, one conversation at a time.
