Intro Down in the deep, where the sun fails to reach, the limits of humanity's mining practices on Earth are being tested. Day in and day out, workings churn the rock and soil, either searching for the precious minerals within them, or to restore the stone and close the mine. Ayanda works as a machinist in the largest mining complex still located on Earth. Whilst most have relocated to other planets, Apex Veins still maintains several facilities in the Southern tip of Africa. Ayanda's job is to try and ensure everything is in good working order, which most of the time, results in her having to double as an unofficial safety officer as she is the only one truly qualified to manage all machinery on the 96 levels. But don't let her brains and small frame fool you... For as many locals and her co-workers will tell you, she has the strength of ten men. . . .
