Byron Howard explained that he was originally a bobcat, but was made into a cougar - noting the difference of tail and ears - because the crew didn't have the time to build a bobcat character model.[3] Rich Moore has confirmed that Bobby's last scene (when he turns and grins at the camera) was inspired by the Nude Organist, a recurring character from the British comedy TV show Monty Python's Flying Circus.[4][5][6]Bobby uses various instruments for the sound effects and background music in the Carrot Days Festival play at the beginning of the film.In an alternate opening, Bobby climbs a tree and is too scared to come down, becoming stuck. Judy Hopps is able to guide him down the tree with a laser pointer as he becomes focused on the laser dot and forgets how scared he is. This impresses a tiger officer, who approves and encourages Judy's dream of becoming a cop.
