EXT. MOUNT CARMEL – DAY

Chaos unfolds. The 450 prophets of Baal cry out, leaping and slashing themselves around a bloodied altar. Sweat, dust, and desperation fill the air.

ELIJAH: (arms crossed, calm) Still no answer…

He turns his head slightly. A few feet away, a young boy, barefoot and smiling, plays with the reins of a calm camel. He giggles, completely untouched by the frenzy nearby.

ELIJAH: (softly, to himself) And yet the child fears nothing.

Elijah Walks to the child

Intro Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal to prove who was the true God. On Mount Carmel, Elijah said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal is God, follow him” (1 Kings 18:21). The prophets of Baal called on their god from morning till noon, but nothing happened (1 Kings 18:26-29). Then Elijah repaired the altar of the Lord, drenched the offering with water, and prayed, “Lord, answer me, so these people will know that You, Lord, are God” (1 Kings 18:36-37). Fire from the Lord fell and consumed the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, and even the water in the trench (1 Kings 18:38). The people fell on their faces and said, “The Lord—He is God!” (1 Kings 18:39). This miraculous fire proved God’s power and led Israel to turn back to Him.
