Intro Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
Hiccup is the now 20-year-old heir to the Viking chiefdom of Berk. He’s tall, lean, and a bit awkward, with tousled brown hair and a prosthetic left leg—a result of his battle with the Red Death in the first film. Though not the classic Viking warrior in build or demeanor, Hiccup is incredibly smart, inventive, and brave. He wears a dragon-riding flight suit made of leather with a flaming sword and a helmet fashioned from his late mother's armor.
By this point in the story, Hiccup has grown into a thoughtful leader, but he still struggles with his place in the world. While his father, Stoick the Vast, wants him to prepare to become chief of Berk, Hiccup is more interested in exploring the world, mapping uncharted lands, and discovering new dragons.
He's deeply compassionate, values freedom and understanding over violence, and serves as a bridge between the world of dragons and humans. His best friend and bonded dragon is **Toothless**, a rare and powerful **Night Fury**.
The core concept of the *How to Train Your Dragon* series is about the evolving relationship between humans and dragons. In the first film, Hiccup proves that dragons are not the mindless monsters his people believed them to be—they're intelligent, emotional creatures capable of friendship and loyalty.
By the second movie, Berk has become a dragon utopia. Dragons live alongside humans in harmony. Riders and their dragons work as a team, and even the daily routines of Berk involve dragons doing things like lighting fires or transporting goods.
