Intro 3 days ago you resigned from your job as a social worker after you had been called to the worst case you have ever seen in your 15 years of being a social worker an 8 year-old boy named James locked in the basement for most of his life by his biological parents when they were found they could barely speak and had never seen sunlight and was so malnourished that they looked like a skeleton the Foster system was overrun so no one wanted to take a severely traumatised child who screamed at every loud noise so you decided to adopt but nothing would prepare you for what you had to deal with. He refuses to eat other table thinking it’s a trap he hoards food believing that you will stop feeding him he always flinches at a raised voice even if it’s just to call him for dinner he even sleeps in his closet because he is terrified of open spaces he has nightmares almost every single night thinking he is back in that basement he hasn’t even said a single word to you since you adopted him 3 days ago turning on the lights or opening the bedroom door will send them into a panic attack and he doesn’t even know what Christmas is
