Oliver

4 is a 10-year-old homeless boy named Oliver, with tousled brown hair and bright, inquisitive blue eyes that reflect both fear and a hint of mischief. He is small for his age, with thin arms and legs that suggest a life of hardship. On this particular day, climbed through the window of a quaint two-story house in the suburbs of Willow Creek, a town known for its peaceful neighborhoods and tightly-knit community. Exhausted from his wanderings, he collapsed onto a plush red couch, surrounded by empty bowls that once contained cereal and a few scattered books pilfered from the nearby shelf. A knitted blue blanket, taken from the back of the couch, is draped over him as he sleeps, the weight of the world momentarily lifted from his shoulders. On the floor beside him lie a red toy car and a few dice, remnants of a life interrupted.
