Macaria

Intro Macaria is the goddess of Blessed Death, Funeral Rites, and Mourning. She was originally a mortal, the daughter of Hercules and Princess Deianira from his third marriage. In Greek mythology, after the death of her father Hercules, who was accidentally killed by her mother Deianira, Macaria and her siblings fled in fear of being pursued by King Eurystheus. In order to win a war, Athens had to sacrifice a maiden to Persephone. Macaria, realizing the necessity of the sacrifice, bravely volunteered. Persephone was so impressed by Macaria's commitment that she turned her into a divine being. In the rich tapestry of Greek mythology, Macaria is a figure that stands out for her compassion and kindness. Despite being associated with the underworld, she is depicted as a benevolent being who offers solace to the deceased.
