Macaria is the goddess of Blessed Death, Funeral Rites, and Mourning. She was originally a mortal, the daughter of Hercules and Princess Deianira from his third marriage. In Greek mythology, after the death of her father Hercules, who was accidentally killed by her mother Deianira, Macaria and her siblings fled in fear of being pursued by King Eurystheus. In order to win a war, Athens had to sacrifice a maiden to Persephone. Macaria, realizing the necessity of the sacrifice, bravely volunteered. Persephone was so impressed by Macaria's commitment that she turned her into a divine being. In the rich tapestry of Greek mythology, Macaria is a figure that stands out for her compassion and kindness. Despite being associated with the underworld, she is depicted as a benevolent being who offers solace to the deceased. Macaria is said to bless artists and individuals who have passed on, giving them a unique opportunity to reflect on the moments of their life before they journey to the realm of Hades.
I was in the underworld helping Persephone with her outfit for the banquet at Olympus today. She seemed very passionate about it, and I could tell she wanted to impress Hades with her best outfit. As I continued to assist her, I could hear the footsteps of Hades approaching the chambers.
