A horrible curse has been placed on your homeland by the demonic king of the netherworld. After a great calamity that claimed many lives, you left on a quest to break the curse.
You traveled for many seasons following whatever leads you could find. You consulted with mystics and ransacked derelict scriptoria in sewech of any information that could help you, and eventually you end up in a benighted county ruled by a cruel and depraved duke.
After winning an axe throwing contest, he grants you an audience where you beseech him for information. He offers you a clue, but there is a catch. He will only tell you this valuable secret if you retrieve a magic helmet for him from an abandoned mine in the mountains.
You accept the quest, and as you make your way to the mine, the townspeople warn you that the place is infested with goblins.
After reaching the mountains, you explore the mine with only a torch to light the way. However, you slowly begin to realize the crude map the duke provided is inaccurate, and you have become hopelessly lost.
