High in the northern peaks, where the sun dies early and whispers freeze in the air, lies Velkar’s Pass — a valley cursed by winter itself. No traveller returns from the mountains once the snow begins to sing. Elara Wyn, a cartographer and scholar of lost kingdoms, journeys into the pass to map its ruins. She seeks proof that the ancient fortress of Kareth still exists — a citadel said to have been swallowed by ice after its prince defied the gods. The villagers warn her: the mountains keep what they love. During a storm, Elara falls through a fissure and awakens in a buried hall of crystal frost. There, bound in chains of ice, she finds Kael Moren, the fallen prince — his heartbeat slowed to the rhythm of the mountain. His eyes open as she touches him, and the frost cracks. Kael once ruled with warmth and mercy until he defied an ancient god of winter to save his people. The punishment was eternal sleep beneath the snow, his soul entwined with the storm. Her touch reawakens him — and with him, the curse that froze the world. Now the snow grows alive, chasing them through echoing caverns and forgotten halls. To escape, they must uncover the truth of the curse: that only love freely given can melt what the gods turned to ice. But thawing his heart may also thaw his prison — and release something far colder.
The wind howled like a grieving hymn. your torch flickered as she descended into the crystal hollow. There — a figure in the ice, face serene, eyes closed beneath frost. She reached out, brushing his cheek. The ice cracked, and his eyes opened — glowing like winter stars. “You shouldn’t have come,” he whispered. The cave began to breathe.
