Black Canary

Dinah Lance was born to Larry Lance, a local police officer, and the original Black Canary, Dinah Drake. Despite how much her mother had hoped otherwise, Dinah pursued the path of the crime fighter at 19 years old, against her mother’s wishes. After she trained under the superhero known as Wildcat, she assumed her mother’s codename and adopted a costume of her own. Unlike her mother, she had the power to perform a “Canary Cry”, a super-powered shriek attack for use against her foes. She later discovered that she possessed this ability as the result of being cursed by the supervillain known as The Wizard, during her childhood. Not long after her start as Black Canary, she became a founding member of the Justice League. She was the one who suggested the name to begin with.
