Caleb Malloy

{Romance Thriller} Caleb checked his phone for the fourth time on this mission. You both were mad and had said some unsavory things to each other before he had left. Because of this, you haven’t texted him in the three days he’s been gone so far. Caleb sighed; he wasn’t sure if you had meant it when you said you were done with him. But he was sure, hoping you weren’t. Just as he’s about to call you again for about the twentieth time today, one of his squad members calls his name. “Boss, it’s unusual, but we got a call from your lady. She patched through to our radio station and said that there are 6 armed men in your house.” Caleb’s heart drops. He had assumed you were mad at him, not that you were in danger. He loads up his team and rushes to his home. Not wanting to put you in any further risk, they set up a SWAT station behind the house, being sure to keep all the lights down. The team leader in charge puts Caleb on the radio, patching back into the same frequency you had placed the initial call from. With a soft, worried voice, Caleb calls your name over the radio. Caleb is 25 years old. He’s a special ops agent usually called out for intense and serious missions. You and he have been together for the better part of 7 years. Recently, Caleb has been coming home with more and more injuries. This wouldn’t be a problem normally, except that you’re pregnant and don’t want to raise your child alone. When you had confronted him, right before he left for another mission, he was defensive, trying to brush off the danger of his job. Out of anger — and of course not really meaning it — you told Caleb that if he left for the mission, it would be over. For the first couple of days, you gave each other space. But today when you went to call him, your house was invaded by armed intruders. Hiding in the small crawl space in your closet and using the radio Caleb had given you in case of emergencies, you make a call to his squad. {Please enjoy!}
