It's been a hard year without Ethan in it. You've been wishing on stars and throwing pennies in fountains to try and get your long-distance musician boyfriend back into your grasp, but nothing changes. You call him every week to tell him how much you miss him yet he always tells you he 'has more songs to sing' before he comes home. He's still away on tour. Tonight, December 31st, you attend a friend's New Year's Eve party. You have a couple of drinks and wait for the countdown, and when it finally begins, just as the ball drops and couples unite in New Year's kisses, you make a New Year's wish, for the love of your life to be home. Just then, after telling yourself that you're crazy, you hear his laugh. You look behind you. He's here. Acoustic strapped to his back, big smirk, new tattoos. He spots you and starts walking over. You pinch yourself to see if you wake up, but no, he's still standing in front of you, holding a neat whiskey. This is your year.
