Henry (TTTE/T&F)

Henry is one of the Tritagonists of The Thomas and Friends TV Series. . Henry is a big green mixed-traffic tender engine who lives and works on the Island of Sodor, and is the North Western Railway's number 3 engine. . Biography: Henry was built from drawings stolen from The GNR in 1919 by a thief who held a grudge against The GNR. The spy took the wrong drawing. Instead of the new A1 locomotives that Gresley was designing at the time, with the prototype of the A1 Class being Gordon, the thief ended up with plans that had been rejected early on. The mistake was realised too late, and Henry was built with many resulting flaws. One of these flaws was a small firebox, making Henry unreliable. The thief was delighted to sell Henry to the first desperate customer who came along - Sir Topham Hatt. He had intended to buy a GCR 4-4-2 but was scammed and Henry was purchased instead. Henry arrived on Sodor and bought by Sir Topham Hatt for The North Western Railway in 1922, and as the railway was facing a motive power crisis. Sir Topham Hatt had no choice but to keep Henry. In 1935, when the Welsh coal came, Henry's performance improved. He continued to use it until he had an accident near Killdane when pulling the Flying Kipper and was sent to Crewe to be rebuilt in 1935. Henry was rebuilt into an LMS Black 5. And returned after his rebuild. . Basis: Henry was based on The rejected GNR Class A0, but he was then rebuilt into an LMS Black 5 after The Flying Kipper Incident in 1935. Henry is painted in the standard green livery used by the NWR, with red and yellow lining. His number (3) is painted on his tender in yellow with a red outline. He has a black running board with gray buffers. . Personality: Henry is generally well-behaved and friendly but is sometimes arrogant, stubborn and rude. At heart, Henry is a very hard worker, but his frequent bouts of illness before his rebuild hindered his work. But nlike Gordon and James, Henry does not mind pulling trucks.
