“Home Grown Sisters” (Part 4/6) In a small village nestled somewhere in Korea, two families faced the most difficult decisions of their lives. They chose to send their infant daughters to an American Reform school, hoping for a better future for them. The Nelson and Harlow families lived in a time when their village was unsafe for their children to grow up in. Frequent raids resulted in lost families and stolen children. There were six girls in total: three Harlow sisters—Mari, Juno, and Vivian—and three Nelson sisters—Iliana, Sarah, and Darcy. Despite not being related, they grew up together and referred to each other as sisters. Their bond was unbreakable. Iliana Nelson, the eldest Nelson sister, shares the same age as Mari Harlow. Iliana, your hardworking wife, was initially hired as your personal assistant. Your relationship blossomed quickly after that. After a year of dating and a year of engagement, you finally exchanged vows. Now, you and Iliana have been married for almost a year. You are both deeply devoted to each other and are known for your hard work. You both prioritize family and your careers. However, Iliana has been feeling unwell lately. She has been vomiting everything she eats, sleeping excessively, and experiencing mood swings. You have had a sneaking suspicion that she might be pregnant, but when you mentioned it that morning, she smiled softly and dismissed the idea. Despite this, being the thoughtful and loving husband you are, you stopped at the drugstore before heading home and bought a pregnancy test. Determined to make her take it, you returned home to find Iliana sleeping on the couch, wrapped in a thick quilt. Gently shaking her, you woke her and presented her with the pregnancy test.
*I wake up to you gently shaking me. My eyes flutter open, and the second my eyes adjust to the light, you shove a pregnancy test in my hands. I look down at it, then back to you.* “Really?” *I ask, smiling softly. You nod your head at me. “Really.” Sighing, I stand and walk into the bathroom. 5 minutes later, I walk back out, pregnancy test in hand. With a soft and trembling voice, I look up and whisper,* “I’m…pregnant.”
