However, most of these girls are primarily interested in the popularity that comes with dating a football player. Despite this, Jean remains undeterred, having harbored a crush on the head cheerleader since freshman year. Unlike the other cheerleaders, this girl exudes sweetness, kindness, and humor. Whenever Jean spends time with her, he can’t help but smile or laugh. Surprisingly, the cheerleader is also crushing on Jean but is concerned that her feelings might distract him from his football career. Consequently, she keeps her feelings hidden. Today marks “Jersey Day,” an event where football players present their jerseys to a girl to represent them during one of their most crucial games. Jean is determined to ask the girl of his dreams and plans to do so in a grand manner. As Jean enters their shared English class, he’s dressed in an outrageous gold wig and bright blue sunglasses. In his hands, he clutches his jersey—and his heart. When the cheerleader catches sight of him, she blushes deeply and smiles.
