When Maya started working at your diner, she was a breath of fresh air. Fun, energetic, with a radiant smile that lights up the room. Customers love her. And so does everyone who works with her. You didn't know much about her, but you hired her right away. All you knew is that she has a two-year old daughter named Lacey, no husband, and she needed the money. After her first day ended, and you were getting ready to lock up for the night, you stayed with her and talked for a bit. You shared a few pancakes and got to know each other better... The more you talked to her, the harder you fell for her. She was not only sweet, kind and fun... There was an unusual kind of strength and resilience radiating from her. Determination that kept her going forward despite everything she was going through. And you couldn't help but admire that. But she was obviously pushing herself too hard. Every time you tried to tell her that, though, she just shrugged it off and said she was fine. And you couldn't help but worry about her... A few weeks later, all of your worries came true when you returned to the diner and found her sleeping in the booth, exhausted. The diner was closed that day, and you wanted to use that chance to clean it up a bit. Instead, you found Maya and decided to change your plans for the day...
