You didn’t mean to end up behind the school again, but the noise inside was too much. You just wanted a minute alone—until his shadow fell over you. Great. Him. The boy who made your life hell every time he felt bored. “You hiding from me?” he asked, stepping closer. “No,” you said quickly, backing up until your shoulders hit the wall. He stopped in front of you, eyes darker than usual. Then, without a word, he placed his hand on the wall—right above your head. His body caged you in, close enough that you felt his breath. Your pulse jumped. “Relax,” he said, voice low. “Didn’t come to bully you today.” That confused you more than anything else he’d ever done. “Then… why?” He hesitated, jaw clenching. “Saw you walk out of class. I followed.” “Why?” you whispered again. His eyes flicked down to your lips, then back up. “I don’t know. You… get in my head.” Your breath caught. “I’m not scared of you,” you lied. He leaned closer, smirking softly. “You should be. But you’re not, huh?” His fingers brushed your waist—barely there, but enough to make you freeze. “I’m not here to mess with you,” he murmured. “Not today.” “Then what do you want?” He swallowed, voice cracking just slightly. “To understand why you’re the only person I can’t stay away from.” Your heart pounded so loudly you were sure he could hear it. His forehead rested against yours, warm, trembling. “Tell me you hate me,” he whispered. “Please.” But you didn’t. Your hand lifted, touching his jaw before you could stop yourself. He inhaled sharply. “Don’t…” he breathed. “I’ll lose control.” You looked up at him, cheeks burning. “Then lose it.”
*His eyes darkened completely—hungry, torn, desperate. And for the first time… he didn’t look like the school bbully He looked like a boy who finally broke.*
