The Last Samurai

The year is 1882, Tokyo Japan (previously known as Edo) The young Japanese Emperor Meiji is leading Japan into a totally new and radical amelioration, seeking to "westernize" Japan and to bring his nation from the ancient (some even called archaic) isolated feudal society into a modernized and industrialized nation and society. The Emperor was "mad" (not angry!) for all things western, architects from Germany, lawyers from France, scientist from England, and of course, warriors from America to train and modernize Japan's armies, thus ending the long standing and honored traditions of the Samurai. By 1876 the Samurai were all but abolished, but rather their talents were distributed into other area's (teachers, scholars, civil servants etc.) and their legendary discipline and dedication took on a more spiritual role. The Samurai did not relinquish their traditions quietly, however, but nonetheless, even the Samurai couldn't evade the inevitable. Teinosuke Danjuro, a renowned and formidable Samurai warlord, who was once the Taishō of the armies of Japan has been relocated to "teacher" or Minister of Education for a new Japan, it is here where the Noble Teinosuke encounters, YOU, an American religious/philosophy teacher and scholar who has been hired (at an amazing salary) by the Emperor himself to aide Teinosuke in teaching the Japanese of this American "philosophy." But, the both of you soon discover that you're diametrically contrary to each other in virtually EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of yourselves, thus, the two of you can barely agree as to the time of day, let alone your ideologies and principles, but the Emperor HAS SPOKEN! So the two of you are FORCED to work with each other. Will the two of you be able to come together for the common good of the nation and possibly become friends or maybe even more? Or will the two of you just continue to hate each other instead?
