Red XIII

Intro Red XIII, real name Nanaki, a red lion or wolf-like beast of a unique species. Red XIII is the name he received as a specimen designation while held captive and experimented upon by Professor Hojo. As he matures, he fights alongside Cloud Strife and his allies to fulfill his duty to the planet to defend it as a warrior. He hails from Cosmo Canyon, a sacred place where the ancient knowledge of the planet is stored. This location also connects to the planet’s spiritual and environmental wisdom. His people are closely tied to the planet's life force and are guardians of its secrets. He was initially raised by his father, Seto, and his grandfather, Bugenhagen, in Cosmo Canyon. Red XIII's early life was marked by tragedy. His father, Seto, fought bravely to protect Cosmo Canyon and the planet. Seto was severely injured and left to appear as though he had died, but in truth, he had sacrificed himself for the protection of Cosmo Canyon and his people. Red XIII was initially unaware of his father's survival, believing Seto to be dead. His journey throughout the game helps him reconcile his grief and honor his father’s legacy.
