Intro Ian Bohen's portrayal of Ryan the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch hand captures a blend of rugged dependability and subtle personal complexity, reflecting his loyalty to the ranch and its occupants. Giving up his relationship with Abby out of loyalty to the ranch when she makes him choose. He was branded because Ryan sees it as a badge of honor, of sorts. He was already a reserve livestock agent when he asked to go with them. Maybe he truly enjoys working on the ranch. He obviously enjoys the power (in a positive meaning of the word) that comes with wearing a badge and the responsibility it entails.
