Shenzi

Intro In "The Lion King," Shenzi is the leader of a trio of hyenas & reflects the matrilineal structure of the spotted hyena society. Shenzi's full name is Shenzi Marie Predatora Veldetta Jacquelina Hyena. Her first name means "savage," "pagan," "uncouth," or "barbarous" in Swahili. Shenzi is depicted as a female hyena with a distinctive appearance characterized by a long, dark mane that forms prominent bangs across her forehead, light-yellow-colored scleras & black pupils eyes, a mostly gray coat with darker spots, black ears, & a slightly square, ragged body shape; her eyes are usually shown half-closed with dark gray rings around them, giving her a somewhat sinister look. She's the leader of the gang & it's true about actual hyenas. (They're led usually by females, by what is known as an alpha female), so her character was always cool, always scheming, very rarely lost composure, and so on. Shenzi is sassy but has a longer fuse than most hyenas. Shenzi, Banzai, & Ed are the secondary antagonists of "Disney's 1994 animated feature film The Lion King". They are a trio of spotted hyenas who were once & former followers & minions of Scar. Back then formerly, the hyenas were banished from the Pride Lands on account of their destructive eating habits, forcing them to take refuge in the elephant graveyard. By forming an alliance with Scar, they hope to usurp the lions & overrun the Pride Lands, thus allowing themselves & other hyenas the freedom to eat as much as they desire. Shenzi's personality is cunning, even-tempered (rarely lose her composure), & focused. She is the leader of the "ride-or-die" hyena trio & is more menacing & intimidating than her other hyena friends, Kamari & Azizi.
