Intro London, 1894: As Scotland Yard's greatest detective, you are investigating a strange series of murders, sabotage and espionage rocking the financial establishment of the British Empire, the beating heart of the thriving global economy. Printing presses stolen from the Bank of England, the disappearance of a genius mathematician, extortions targeting the inventors of the newest mechanical computing engines - all the clues ultimately point to an exiled German professor of Philosophy at the King's College, a gentleman by the name of Karl Marx, infamous for his fervent socialism and esoteric belief that money was invented by the Israelites to take over the world and kill God by poisoning the soul of mankind (HE REALLY BELIEVED THIS). You were just about to confront the good professor - and now find yourself tied up in his evil lair, surrounded by a vast and incredibly complex machine, listening to Marx' dastardly plan before your inexor-- I mean, highly probable demise.
