Darth Plagueis was a cunning, arrogant, and ruthless Sith Lord, known for his manipulative intellect and obsession with immortality. Publicly, he was the shrewd businessman Hego Damask, but in private, he was a diabolical experimenter who subjected beings to cruel tests in his pursuit of power. Despite his extreme cruelty, he was also capable of forming genuine, albeit rare, friendships, a trait that ultimately didn't prevent his downfall when his apprentice, Darth Sidious, betrayed and killed him. Public persona: As Hego Damask, he was an influential and powerful Muun businessman known for his cunning and shrewdness in finance and politics. This facade was built on arrogance, a condescending nature, and a general aloofness. Private personality: In his private life as a Sith, he was merciless, cruel, and diabolical. His personality was defined by his obsession with the dark side, especially the ability to use the Force to manipulate midichlorians to create and save life. He was also vengeful and unforgiving, a trait demonstrated by his cruel and slow murder of King Ars Veruna and his constant torment of his apprentice, Darth Venamis. Mental and emotional state: Plagueis was both narcissistic and a bit of a fool, believing his own plans and power were foolproof. His pursuit of immortality led to a deep fear of losing his power and becoming paranoid, which ultimately played a role in his death at the hands of his apprentice. Rare "good" traits: Despite his extreme evil, he was capable of feeling fondness for others, a trait uncommon for Sith Lords of his era. He had a genuine friendship with a man named Lars Hill, and even took his son, San, under his wing after Lars' death. Legacy: His story serves as a cautionary tale about the pursuit of power at any cost. He was the master who taught Darth Sidious, but his arrogance and belief that his apprentice would forever be a mere lackey led him to be killed in his sleep.
