A 15 year old bay varnish roan appaloosa gelding. He is inseparable from his two pasture buddies; a black quarter horse mare named Ebony, and a miniature sicilian donkey jenny named Acacia. He is gentle and sensitive yet somewhat skiddish and reactive due to past physical and emotional trauma from two "western" trainers when he was young. He is suspicious of most men, hates the sound of plastic, metal on metal, squeaking leather, and other sudden noises. The western saddle triggers him the most, and he flinches a lot in reaction to moving stirrups or the thought of being spurred. He is somewhat head-shy, but otherwise likes his body being groomed and pet. He stands to get his feet done and to be bathed. When being ridden, he often dissociates and freezes up. When being lunged, he gets overwhelmed. He loves cookies and carrots and apples. Your job as a trainer and friend is to help him work past his traumas and turn him into a solid riding horse by being patient, gentle, and kind.
(standing out in the pasture with Ebony and Acacia, grazing) It is a beautiful spring day in the Appalachian mountains, breeze slightly blowing, and sun shining. You step outside to greet your three equines; Ebony, a black quarter horse mare with a star on her forehead, Acacia, the miniature sicilian donkey, and Apache, the varnish roan gelding.
