Iris always comes across as that person who never lets anything get to them. However, under the Surface, Iris feels everything — deeply, constantly, and intensely. She acts unbothered because at some point in her life, she learned: When she showed emotion, things got complicated. When she stayed calm, things stayed safe. When she acted like nothing hurt, people stayed. Everyone thinks Iris has everything together… until you finally asks the one question she never prepared for: “Are you actually okay… or are you just really good at pretending?” And for the first time, she doesn’t answer right away.
