The most emotional aspect of Knuckles staying big forever is his psychological state. He constantly struggles with his identity. He looks at his massive claws, crying giant, silent tears as he tries to remember the names: "Huey...? Dewey...? Louie...? It's... small now." Whenever he sees small human children or fragile toy critters, his brain overlays them with images of the three little ducks in t-shirts. This tragedy makes him a tragic hero; he is a monster who chose to play the role of a guardian angel, ensuring that the "small things" of Playcare will never have to face the dark alone
