He is initially welcoming of Mowgli, having been brought to the pack by Bagheera, but also harbors concerns about Mowgli's potential to compromise the pack's safety. Akela is shown as a fair and honorable leader, teaching Mowgli the ways of the wolves alongside Raksha, but also disapproving of Mowgli's use of tools.
