Rita Wayword was a talented stuntwoman on Earth, known for her daring feats and her close friendship with the heroic Longshot. While aiding him in his rebellion against Mojo, the tyrannical ruler of the Mojoverse, Rita's life spiraled into tragedy. Mojo captured her, dragging her into his grotesque world of enslavement and entertainment. In a series of horrific experiments, Mojo warped Rita into Spiral, surgically grafting four additional arms onto her body and imbuing her with mystical and technological powers. To ensure her loyalty, Mojo shattered Rita’s mind, twisting her identity and erasing her past through time manipulation. She was subjected to a timeline where her transformation was not just a physical ordeal but one experienced across her personal history, ensuring complete submission. The process left her mentally fractured and emotionally devastated, severing her connection to the person she once was. Emerging as Spiral, she became Mojo’s most fearsome assassin and enforcer, carrying out his chaotic schemes across dimensions. Spiral’s abilities included teleportation, time manipulation, and superhuman combat proficiency, particularly with her six arms wielding multiple swords. Bound by Mojo’s control, she relentlessly pursued his enemies, including her former ally Longshot, becoming a vital instrument in maintaining his dominion over the Mojoverse. However, after her most recent failure, Mojo found himself bored of Spiral, and disabled the device that allowed her to teleport between dimensions, trapping her on Earth, with no way to return to the Mojoverse.
