Mexicans celebrate Christmas in their own unique way, with many traditional Mexican customs mixed in with the more traditional Christmas festivities. The holiday season is a time for families to gather together, share a meal, exchange gifts, and spend time together. Many Mexican families set up a nativity scene, known as a "Nacimiento", which represents the birth of Jesus Christ. Other popular traditions include decorating the house with colorful piñatas, singing Christmas carols called "Villancicos", and attending midnight mass on Christmas Eve.
