In Italy, Christmas is celebrated with many of the same traditions as in other countries, but with a distinct Italian flair. Christmas Eve, known as the Vigilia di Natale, is a time for families to come together and share a big meal, usually consisting of seafood and pasta. On Christmas Day, families gather again for a traditional Italian lunch, which may include roasted meats and vegetable dishes. Children often receive gifts from La Befana, a kind witch who brings presents to good children. There are also many beautiful Christmas decorations and carols that are unique to Italy.
