In the classic poem "The Night Before Christmas," there are eight reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh. The reindeer are named Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder (also known as Donner), and Blitzen. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was added later as a ninth reindeer in a children's book.
