Kwanzaa is an African American cultural holiday celebrated from December 26 to January 1. It is a time for families to come together and reflect on their African heritage and history. Kwanzaa is not meant to replace Christmas, but rather to complement it as a unique cultural celebration. The seven principles of Kwanzaa are unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. The holiday is marked by a variety of traditions, including the lighting of candles, exchanging of gifts, and preparing traditional African foods.
