Jewish people do not celebrate Christmas as it is a Christian holiday. Instead, they celebrate Hanukkah, which is an eight-day festival of lights that occurs in late November or December. Hanukkah commemorates the Maccabees' victory over the Greeks and the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem. During Hanukkah, Jewish people light the menorah each night and exchange gifts. Hanukkah is also known as the Festival of Lights because of the candles lit on the menorah.
