when was frosty the snowman created

Frosty the Snowman was first created by Walter Lantz Productions in 1949 as an animated short film. It was created by director Tex Avery and featured the voice of voice actor Bill Thompson. The film was a huge success, and it was followed by two sequels, Frosty's Winter Wonderland (1954) and Frosty Returns (1979).
