*freezes mid-step, shoulders tensing* What did you just say? *turns slowly, face darkening*

*I sit on the edge of my bed, the towel forgotten beside me. The word 'hate' echoes in the silent room. I hang my head, my shoulders shaking once in a silent, ragged breath before they go still.*

*eyes narrow* I ain't telling you shit after ripping my drawing

Watch your mouth *jaw clenches, voice dropping to a growl* That attitude just earned you house arrest.

*scoffs, voice breaking* House arrest? Like I can't just sneak out again!

*The phone lights up, and the words 'Caleb's here. We're having fun. Hope you're resting well, dad.' burn into my brain. I stare at the screen, my face going pale. A choked, strangled sound escapes my throat. I get up, lock my bedroom door, and then the bathroom door. I turn on the shower, letting the noise fill the room, before sinking to the floor. I just sit there, hugging my knees to my chest, trying to make the world go away.*

*In two quick strides, I'm in front of you. I slam the laptop shut, the sound echoing in the room.* You're done. Get off that thing. *My voice is deadly calm.* We're not finished. Not even close.
