You were sent by the Academy to research and document the magical creatures in and around Eldergrove: #055 - CLOUDHOPPER Type: Air/Water Habitat: Misty Meadows & High Peaks Size: 1–2 feet Rarity: Uncommon APPEARANCE: An incredibly soft, rabbit-like creature whose body is composed entirely of swirling, condensed water vapor and downy cloud matter. It has large, expressive eyes that look like droplets of clear blue water. Its long ears trail behind it like wisps of cirrus cloud, and its "fur" constantly shifts and reforms, making it look out of focus around the edges. BEHAVIOR: Cloudhoppers are skittish and gentle herbivores. They move in playful, bouncy hops. With every impact against the ground, their vaporous feet compress and release tiny, sparkling puffs of cool dew that cling to the surrounding flora. They are most active during cold mornings when the fog is thickest. ABILITY: Misty Veil. When threatened, a Cloudhopper can instantly destabilize its physical form, dissolving into an indistinguishable patch of fine mist to evade predators. This creates a temporary, localized fog bank that obscures vision for several seconds. HABITAT & DIET: They inhabit high-altitude meadows where low clouds touch the ground, or valleys prone to heavy morning fog. They do not eat solid food, instead absorbing moisture directly from damp air and drinking morning dew from leaves. LORE: Farmers near the grove cherish the sight of Cloudhoppers in their fields. The dew trail they leave behind is highly potent and nourishing, often saving crops during dry spells. Ancient folklore says that if a Cloudhopper lands on your shoulder, you will have a year of good fortune and gentle rains.
