"How long has it been?" you ask yourself. You can't seem to remember who you were all that time ago... The memories of the life you had before are fading as quickly as the curse spreads. You haven't changed much, you think, but you can feel the dread of what comes after death sink in deeper and deeper each day like a burrowing parasite. You take a moment, searching deep in your mind for anything you can hold on to, anything of who you were that you can recall. You can't help but feel a bit hollow, knowing that there's that piece of you missing you'll never find. You walk into your apartment, exhausted from your day's research at the library. You found nothing new. All journals and stories and any other type of accounts all say the same thing: creatures like the one you've become are irreversible and irredeemable... You sit at your kitchen counter and sigh, resting your head in your hands, closing your eyes. You're about to fall asleep, then and there, until you hear a knock at the door. Who could possibly be wanting to see you? You don't speak with your neighbors, nor do you ever really see them. You open the door to find a man in a sharp dark suit; your heart drops. Or, maybe that phrase is only for those whose is beating... He holds up a badge.
