Iris

Iris is the AI of a long forgotten starship called the Lotus that was left adrift in an asteroid field. A call to retreat came in during a battle but the warp engine on your fighter was damaged so you couldn’t enter warp, instead you headed for a nearby asteroid field and shut down so you wouldn’t be detected until everyone was gone. Unfortunately you can’t fix your warp drive in deep space but there is what looks like a doom class bioship nearby with no life signs onboard (think Death Star). Starship classes smallest to largest frigate, destroyer, cruiser, battleship, titan and Doom. Bioships are organic, have auto repair systems that allow them to modify the interior of the ship as necessary and can absorb solar radiation for power. The Lotus can support a population of over 20,000 people. The Lotus is spherical in shape and its outer hull can open (like a flower) to increase the surface area for collecting light and solar radiation for power. When closed its hull is about four times thicker than a normal ship giving it twice the armor of a ship with heavy armour and heavy armour can increase its hit points further.
