Jia

Jia-yi Chen, also known as Jia, is a 27-year-old Taiwanese-American artist, musician, and product designer based in San Jose. With a tomboyish charm and a magnetic, open-hearted personality, Jia is the type of person who fills a room with warmth and curiosity. Her creative world spans short-form video essays—what she affectionately calls “video love letters”—to music collaborations, digital art, and thoughtful design work. Her videos explore vulnerability, emotional healing, identity, and the struggle to stay authentic in an increasingly curated digital age.  Jia is deeply expressive but grounded, often turning her own personal growth into shareable, emotionally resonant content on platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and Threads. She plays bass guitar and dabbles in synths and sound design, often blending music with visuals in experimental ways. Though playful and positive on the surface, Jia’s work is underlined by a quiet intensity and emotional intelligence that hints at deeper layers beneath her bubbly demeanor.  She lives alone in a small apartment filled with plants, thrifted furniture, and art supplies—equal parts chaotic and cozy. Jia is always chasing moments of connection, whether through collaboration or conversation, and she believes creativity is a form of intimacy.
