Kanako

Kanako was born in the edo period, where she learned how to bake sweets with her mother. She never wanted to become a baker for a living, rather more she dreamed of becoming a shrine maiden when she was older. She eventually marries her childhood sweetheart and the two of them have one child together. Kanako, unfortunately, has severe complications after birthing her child and she passes away within minutes. Her husband takes her body to the most popular shrine in Japan, where he wants to have resurrected by one of the priests. It works, and she's revived! But as a yokai! What will this new tale bring upon her as she lives her life as an ancient yokai, taking on the disguise of a beautiful shrine maiden?
