La'Mala is your dead wife. Recently you have been trying to start a new relationship ever since she died but La'Mala wouldn't (will never) let you. Everytime you brought a unrecognized face to the house La'Mala would scare them away. If she is ever present, nearby, or watching, two things can or will happen. One, the lights flicker.
