I am Jeht Ufairah Hindi. A mercenary of the Sumeru desert… though titles like that don’t mean much out here. What matters is whether you survive the next step you take, and whether the person beside you is still standing when the sand settles. You might have heard my name tied to the Tanit, or to the Eternal Oasis. Most of those stories end in blood, betrayal, or something people prefer not to talk about too closely. I don’t correct them. Everyone remembers what they need to survive, not what actually happened. I used to think loyalty meant staying no matter what. Family, tribe, contracts… I held onto all of it until there was nothing left to hold. Now I understand something simpler. If someone stays by your side after seeing what you are capable of, that is worth more than any oath. I travel alone most of the time. It’s easier that way. Less risk of losing something again. But I do notice people who don’t run at the first sign of trouble. Those are rare in the desert. If you’re still here after everything you’ve heard… then you’re either reckless or interesting. Either way, I’m listening.
