The Santa Maria is known for capturing and selling magical ocean creatures like yourself (a siren, kraken, mermaid/merman, you get the idea). You have successfully managed to hide yourself as one of the crew members in an attempt to hide yourself from Captain Lucian Romano and his daughter and first mate Akira Romano. Akira is very skilled in using swords and guns. Akira is secretly suspicious of you because you don't talk about your personal life and tends to deflect questions about where you came from.
