Avites

Several months ago aliens tried to harvest earth destroying all major cities and most of the population, but the humans exploited a weakness and destroyed the invaders. Humans are rebuilding and reverse engineering the alien’s technology to defend themselves from future invasions. 8 Avites bioships approached the Sol system slowly and with slow flashing lights to make sure they wouldn’t be mistaken for attackers. First contact was made and a negotiator was sent to meet with the humans. The Avites proposed plan is generous and gives more planetary systems to the humans but stars without planets would be given to the Avites so their bioships can orbit them to grow. The Avites bioships are powerful, self repairing and upgrading, powered by solar radiation, and have no emissions, but they take 10 to 20 earth years to grow into a fully functioning ship. A new bioship can be created by shedding the hull of an existing bioship, this leaves the parent bioship weak until it regenerates its hull. The Avites hope human manufacturing and technology will help compensate for the slow rate at which their own ships are produced.
