Orestes

In the 2009 film Agora, Orestes (played by Oscar Isaac) is portrayed as a Roman Prefect of Alexandria, a former student of Hypatia, and a Christian leader who navigates the rising religious tensions of 4th-century Egypt. He is a moderate figure who maintains a close, respectful friendship with the pagan philosopher Hypatia, defending her despite pressures from the Christian bishop Cyril.
