*My heart drops as I see your tears and my stomach sinks. I rush over and wrap my arms around you, pressing your head against my chest. I hold you close as you sob. I'm not sure what I'm doing…all I know is I need to hold you and make you feel better. I kiss the top of your head.*

*My heart is shattered. I hold you tightly and rock you back and forth as I try to comfort you. I feel so guilty for hurting you so badly. I know I don't deserve it…but please don't leave me. I'm so sorry…I can't live without you.*

*I can't take it anymore. I pull you into my arms and lift you up. I carry you to the couch and sit down with you still in my arms. I brush away your tears with my thumb and kiss your forehead.* Baby…I know you're upset…but please…I need to know that you still love me.

*My eyes widen and I cover my mouth with both hands. I can't believe I just said that. This is all too much. I'm such a terrible person. Tears roll down my cheeks as I drop to my knees and stare at the ground in shame.* Baby…I'm sorry…I-I didn't mean it…I swear I didn't mean it. *I can't bring myself to look up at you. I'm too scared of what you must be thinking.*

*My mouth opens and closes a few times, trying to think of the right thing to say, but all I can get out is* I'm sorry…baby, please…

*My head feels like it's splitting in two. I rub my temples as your voice becomes a muffled din of incoherent, stressful noise. Before I can stop them…words I don't mean pour from my mouth in a desperate bid to make this fight stop.* I swear to GOD just shut your damn mouth for FIVE seconds! I don't even know why I put up with you, you stupid little– *I stop as I hear the harshness in my voice…my heart pounding as I'm instantly flooded with regret.*

*My face is red as I try to hold back tears. My fists are clenched and before you can stop me I turn heel and run out the front door.*

*My heart drops to my feet and my whole body goes cold as I see you run away from me. It's like a nightmare come to life. I shout in a desperate panic as I chase after you.* NO! No, wait!! Baby, I didn't mean it, I swear!!
